The Master’s Program in Nursing with Thesis is offered within the Graduate School of Education and Research at our university, under the Department of Nursing. The courses and thesis supervision in the program are conducted by faculty members from the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences and other relevant departments at our university.

Message from the Program Director

The Master’s Program in Nursing aims to train nurses who are scientifically grounded, sensitive to ethical values, and capable of responding to social needs. Our program provides a strong academic foundation for nurses who wish to specialize in different areas of nursing. With our educational approach centered on evidence-based nursing practices, we aim to develop our students’ critical thinking, scientific research, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
With our expert academic staff, course content that closely follows current scientific developments, and our student-centered approach, we train well-equipped graduates who will contribute to the constantly evolving structure of nursing. Throughout the program, our students are encouraged to participate in scientific knowledge production; they are supported in gaining ethical responsibility awareness, professional leadership, and social sensitivity. Our primary priority is to train scientists and specialist nurses who will enhance the quality of healthcare services, improve public health, and shape the future of the profession. In this regard, we aim to produce graduates who embrace lifelong learning in the field of health, are open to change, and have a high sense of responsibility.

Program Description

The purpose of the thesis-based master’s program in nursing is to train specialist nurses who possess planning, organizing, supervisory, and developmental skills to make nursing services more effective and efficient; who are equipped with the moral, intellectual, and leadership skills necessary to provide quality nursing care; and who can effectively use advanced technology in the field of health. Nurses graduating from the program are able to provide evidence-based care, take on educational and research roles, and keep up with scientific developments. They can contribute to improving and enhancing the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities.
The program includes theoretical and practical training, discussion sessions, seminars, and project work. In addition to the required courses, students take elective courses related to the nursing field they are interested in and wish to specialize in (nursing fundamentals, internal medicine nursing, surgical nursing, women’s health and disease nursing, child health and disease nursing, mental health and disease nursing, public health nursing, and nursing management).

Purpose and Objectives

Those who complete the Master’s Degree Program in Nursing with Thesis are expected to achieve the following objectives in line with the objectives of the TYYÇ and our University.

  • Contributing to the professional development of colleagues by providing consultation in clinical settings

    The Master’s Degree in Nursing program does not yet have any accreditations.

    Career Opportunities

    Graduates can work in the healthcare sector as clinical nurses, nurse managers, nurse educators, nurse supervisors, specialty nurses, and academics in both private and public institutions.

    Graduates

    Some of our Master’s in Nursing program graduates continue their education in Doctoral programs in Nursing, either at our University or at other Universities. They participate in conferences related to their field and have the opportunity to present their scientific studies. They can advance to a higher level by taking the relevant exams.

    Admission Requirements

    Graduates of Nursing Faculties, Nursing Colleges, Nursing Departments of Health Sciences Faculties, or Nursing Departments of Health Colleges at universities are eligible for admission to the Master’s Degree Program in Nursing with Thesis.
    For Turkish citizens, applicants must have obtained a minimum score of 55 in the numerical section of the ALES exam for the program they are applying to.
    The undergraduate GPA is also considered in applications, and candidates are interviewed.

    Admission, Recognition, and Transfers

    Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in nursing are admitted to the program. Courses taken by students wishing to transfer horizontally from other universities’ master’s programs in nursing are evaluated in accordance with our university’s relevant regulations, based on course content and credits, and transfer procedures are carried out for courses deemed suitable.

    Students

    Students in the program are in constant communication with their academic advisors and program faculty members via email and WhatsApp groups. At the end of each semester, they provide feedback on both the courses and the course instructors by filling out the “Course and Course Instructor Evaluation Form” through our university system. All feedback is evaluated, and necessary corrective actions are initiated.

    Faculty

    In addition to teaching courses, faculty members in the program are responsible for monitoring, guiding, and advising students. When a student enrolls in the Master of Science in Nursing program, a faculty member from their chosen nursing specialty is assigned as their academic advisor. Students select their courses together with their academic advisor. In the program, faculty members’ areas of expertise are taken into consideration in the delivery of both required and elective courses. After completing their courses, students begin their thesis work together with their academic advisor. Faculty members who take on the role of thesis advisor meet regularly with students.

    Graduates

    The work areas and academic progress of graduates from the program are monitored. Some of our graduates are doctoral students.
    Graduates are given the opportunity to share their clinical experience with students by participating in undergraduate courses.
    Joint academic studies are conducted with graduates.
    In order to facilitate graduate-student matching during undergraduate students’ clinical rotations, our undergraduate students are sent to clinical settings where our graduates are located, enabling graduates to share their experiences with students and monitor their progress.

    Employers and Industry Partners

    Our master’s degree program in nursing students complete clinical/field placements in their chosen area of specialization, guided by faculty members, in accordance with the elective courses in their curriculum. These placements are monitored and evaluated by faculty members in the chosen field. To this end, collaborations are established with various healthcare institutions (such as public hospitals, nursing homes, community health centers, etc.).
