Message from the Program Director

The Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department aims to train professional psychological counselors by taking a holistic approach to individual development. Within the scope of the 2-year (120 ECTS) master’s program, an educational model based on current theories, applied courses, and ethical principles has been adopted. The program requires attendance in at least 70% of theoretical courses and at least 80% of applied courses. The language of instruction is Turkish.
Vision
The vision of the Master’s Program in Guidance and Psychological Counseling is to train psychological counselors who can approach the cognitive, emotional, social, and professional development of individuals from a holistic perspective, equipped with scientifically based knowledge and skills, committed to ethical principles, highly culturally sensitive, and with a developed sense of social responsibility. The program aims to train its students not only to intervene in existing problems but also to embrace a preventive and developmental counseling approach, enabling them to adapt to changing social needs and global developments. In line with this vision, the program adopts an educational approach that integrates theoretical knowledge with practice and supports critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning skills. It aims to strengthen students’ professional competence by enabling them to effectively use current approaches in psychological counseling, measurement and evaluation methods, research skills, and technology. At the same time, training psychological counselors who respect individual differences, act within the framework of human rights and ethical responsibilities, understand the multicultural structure of society, and are sensitive to this structure is among the fundamental priorities. The RPD Master’s Program aims to be a program that is nationally and internationally renowned, highly productive in terms of scientific output, establishes strong partnerships with application areas, and makes a difference in society through its graduates. In this context, our vision is to be a pioneering program that trains psychological counselors with leadership qualities who can provide qualified services in the fields of education, health, social services, and mental health, contributing to the psychological well-being of individuals and society.

Program Description

The Master’s Program in Guidance and Psychological Counseling aims to train professional psychological counselors by taking a holistic approach to individual development. The two-year (120 ECTS) master’s program adopts an educational model based on current theories, applied courses, and ethical principles. Purpose and Objectives

The department aims to equip students with the ability to evaluate individuals in a multidimensional manner, develop effective communication and problem-solving skills, and train professional counselors who adhere to ethical standards. Our graduates are qualified to provide education, counseling, and personal development services in state and private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, Guidance and Research Centers, government agencies, private counseling centers, and various organizations.

Graduates of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling master’s program can work as psychological counselors in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, universities, guidance research centers, and private educational institutions. They can also work in the private sector in human resources, family counseling centers, and psychological support centers.
