
General Information
The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts offers a YÖK-approved undergraduate program that aims to introduce, interpret, and develop national and international culinary cultures, while also focusing on training creative, innovative, and managerial chef candidates.
The program aims to develop not only students’ professional knowledge and skills but also the fundamental competencies required in the 21st century, such as analytical thinking, effective communication, creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and the effective use of information technology. Through this comprehensive approach, our graduates are equipped with the skills to compete both nationally and internationally in the field of gastronomy, contributing to the industry as well-rounded professionals.
Aim of the Department
The primary objective of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts is to train chefs and industry professionals who are creative, innovative, possess critical thinking skills, and have developed leadership qualities, enabling them to compete internationally in the field of gastronomy. The department aims not only to equip students with culinary skills but also to provide them with expertise in management, communication, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. This approach enables graduates to take on effective roles in the gastronomy sector at both national and international levels and contribute to the development of the field.
Graduate Profile
Graduates of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department have a wide range of employment opportunities at the national and international levels thanks to their theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Graduates can work in various areas of the accommodation and food and beverage sector, such as hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars, catering businesses, airlines, and cruise lines. In addition, they can pursue professional career opportunities in R&D units in the food industry, media organizations, educational institutions, and restaurant management consulting services.
Graduates have the opportunity to establish their own businesses by choosing the path of entrepreneurship, in addition to sectoral employment opportunities. They also have the opportunity to pursue an academic career by continuing their education in graduate programs. In this regard, the department trains its graduates to be professionals who can take on leadership roles in the business world as well as experts who can contribute to scientific research and education.
